Roofing an Open-Sided Carport
A carport is the one structure in this range where condensation is rarely the problem. It is open on at least one side, air moves through it constantly, and moisture does not build up under the roof the way it does in a closed garage. That usually means a standard single skin sheet is the right answer and an anti-condensation layer is an unnecessary cost.
What replaces it as the main concern is wind. An open-sided roof catches wind from underneath as well as over the top, and uplift on the sheets is a genuine consideration rather than a theoretical one.
Fixing for uplift
Uplift is resisted by the fixings, so fixing pattern matters more here than on an enclosed building. Follow the fixing centres for the profile rather than spacing screws by eye, and do not skip the fixings at the eaves and verges where uplift is highest.

Profile and span
Box profile in CS32/1000 or CS34/1000 is the natural choice. Its stiffness along the length lets it span the wider bay spacing typical of a carport frame without needing extra purlins.
Cut to length up to 12m means most carports are covered in single sheets with no lap.
Light under the roof
A fully sheeted carport against a house wall can leave the space behind it dark, and can take light away from a window it happens to sit under. GRP roof lights in matching box profile drop into the run in place of a steel sheet, so you can put daylight exactly where you need it without changing how the roof is fixed.
Where the carport abuts the house, flashing the junction properly is what keeps water out. We supply flashings and trims to suit.

What Coatings Do We Offer?
We always recommend our PVC Plastisol-coated sheets due to their cost-effectiveness and excellent resistance to abrasion and corrosion. Polyester-coated sheets are also a high-quality, versatile option suitable for both box profile and corrugated roofing sheets. However, care must be taken to avoid scratching during handling and installation.
