What is Twin Skin Metal Roofing?
The twin skin roofing system consists of several integral components that work together to
create a robust and energy-efficient structure. Key features include:
White Liner Inner Sheet
This reflective surface enhances insulation performance and helps maintain a comfortable indoor environment.
Spacer Bar/Mini Z Purlin
This component ensures structural integrity and supports the weight of the roofing panels, distributing loads evenly.
Insulation Layer
Providing thermal resistance, this layer reduces heat transfer, helping to keep energy costs low.
Box Profile 0.7mm Outer Sheet
The durable outer layer is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions, ensuring long-lasting protection.
Versatility in Overcladding
One of the significant advantages of the twin skin system is its versatility. When installing the system over an existing roof, you can conveniently substitute the liner sheet for the existing roofing material. Instead of using liner sheets, you can attach the mini Z purlins directly to the existing roof structure, simplifying the installation process and enhancing overall efficiency.
Installation Process for Twin Skin Roofing with Mini Z Purlins
Installing a twin skin roofing system is straightforward when you follow these essential steps:
1. Secure the Sheets:
Begin by securing the twin skin sheets to the roof, positioning them close to the rafter line to ensure stability.
2. Distribute Weight Evenly
Carefully spread the sheets out across the purlins. This step is crucial for balancing the weight and maintaining the structural integrity of the roofing system.
3. Fix the Mini Z Purlins
Attach the mini Z purlins through the lining sheet into the existing purlins. If overcladding, secure the purlins directly to the existing roof instead of using liner sheets.
4. Lay Insulation
Before applying the top sheet, lay down the insulation. We offer rolls of 100mm rock wool insulation, which provides excellent thermal resistance and enhances the overall energy efficiency of your roofing system.
5. Apply the Top Sheet
Finally, position the top sheet and fix it to the mini Z purlin. Ensure all connections are tight and secure to prevent any potential leaks.

Plenty of Coatings & Colours Available
We aim to cater to a diverse array of aesthetic preferences, so you can find the right insulated steel roofing panel to compliment any existing property or new build plans.
From standard tones like whites and blacks to more vibrant hues like heritage green and terracotta, we have plenty of customisation options available.
Be advised that some colour options are only available when selecting a suitable coating for your insulated panels. Our plastisol and polyester coatings offer the widest choice for customisation. Our galvanised steel coating meanwhile comes without the availability for coloured finishes but makes up for this with it’s exceptional strength and longevity.
