Industrial Roof Sheets for Factories and Warehouses
On a factory or warehouse the roof is a running cost as much as a building element. It governs how much you spend heating the space, how much artificial light you need during the day, and how much disruption a future repair causes. Those three things usually decide the specification long before appearance does.
We manufacture industrial roof sheets and wall cladding in-house at Bromsgrove, cut to length up to 12m. The right roofing depends on how the building is used, so here are the situations we see most often and what suits each.
We make two profiles, both with a 1000mm cover width. 34/1000 box profile sheets have wider trapezoidal ribs, and 32/1000 box profile sheets have a narrower rib. We recommend 0.7mm thickness for roofing. If you are matching an existing roof, choose the same profile so the sheets line up.
Warehouses and storage buildings
For unheated storage and distribution space, single skin steel is usually the simplest warehouse roofing. Box profile and corrugated sheets are both suitable, and because each sheet is cut to length up to 12m, a long roof slope can often be covered in one piece with fewer end laps to seal.
Factories and manufacturing units
Where people work in the building all day, or a process needs a stable temperature, insulated roof panels make more sense than a single skin. Composite panels fix in one operation, rather than assembling a liner, spacers, insulation and outer sheet on site. Single skin or insulated
An unheated store can be single skin. Anywhere with staff working in it, or a process that needs a stable temperature, justifies insulated or composite panels, which fix in one operation rather than assembling a liner, spacers, insulation and outer sheet on site.

Overcladding
Where the existing roof is structurally sound but tired, overcladding puts a new covering over the old one. The building stays in use, there is no strip-out, and the waste and disruption of a full replacement are avoided.
It is often the difference between a job that can happen this year and one that cannot.
Daylight, Corrosion and Access on Industrial Roofs
Three details on a warehouse or factory roof cause problems later if they are not planned at the start: how daylight reaches the floor, how the sheet edges are protected, and how people get onto the roof safely.
Roof lights for warehouses and large industrial units
On a large shed, the floor area away from the walls only gets daylight if it comes through the roof. GRP roof lights in matching box profile, corrugated and Big 6 forms let daylight into the floor without altering how the roof is fixed. Distributing them evenly across the roof gives far better working light than a few concentrated rows, which matters in distribution warehouses, packing areas and workshops where people work under the roof all day.
Cut edge corrosion on older industrial roofs

It is also the reason we cut every sheet to length in the factory rather than leaving it to be trimmed on site. For the finish, we recommend our PVC Plastisol-coated sheets for their resistance to abrasion and corrosion.

What Coatings Do We Offer?
We always recommend our PVC Plastisol-coated sheets due to their cost-effectiveness and excellent resistance to abrasion and corrosion. Polyester-coated sheets are also a high-quality, versatile option suitable for both box profile and corrugated roofing sheets. However, care must be taken to avoid scratching during handling and installation.
