Let Natural Daylight into Your Steel Roof

Made to match our CS32/1000 and CS34/1000 steel roof sheets, our box profile roof lights are a useful addition to any domestic or commercial roofing project. They sit flush in the same run as your steel sheets, letting natural daylight into your building without altering the roof structure. Whether it’s a workshop, garage or shed, you’ll get plenty of natural light without running electric lighting all day. The translucent finish lets the light through while keeping your building private.

Every roof light is cut to your exact length, up to 6.1m, and delivered anywhere in the UK alongside your steel roof sheets, typically within 7 days, so everything arrives together, ready to install. See our main GRP roof lights page for more on how GRP performs.

Choosing the Right Box Profile Roof Light

To fit properly, your roof light needs to match the profile of the steel sheets it sits between. We supply box profile roof lights in two profiles, matching our box profile roof sheets:

  • CS32/1000 box profile roof lights: for use with our CS32/1000 steel roof sheets
  • CS34/1000 box profile roof lights: for use with our CS34/1000 steel roof sheets

If you’re ordering a new roof from us, simply choose the same profile as your steel sheets. If you’re adding roof lights to an existing building, check your profile first. Box profiles can look similar but differ in rib height and spacing.

Not Sure Which Profile You Have?
Send us a photo or measurements of your existing roof and we’ll match it to the correct rooflight profile for your project. No guesswork, no wrong orders.

Installing Box Profile Roof Lights

Box profile roof lights fit in much the same way as your steel sheets, with a few extra steps to keep your roof strong and weathertight.

Fit between steel sheets

GRP is less strong than steel, so fit each roof light with a steel sheet on either side to keep the roof’s structure intact.

Lap over a purlin

Wherever a roof light meets a steel sheet up the slope, make sure the overlap sits over a purlin so it’s fully supported.

Fix without overtightening

Fix through the crown using roofing screws with sealing washers and the pre-drilled holes, leaving room for the sheet to expand and contract.

Cut with care

If you need to trim a sheet on site, use a fine-toothed saw or cutting disc, and always wear protective gear as GRP dust can irritate skin and eyes.

Always Treat Roof Lights as Fragile

Once fitted, a roof light can be hard to tell apart from the steel sheets around it, so never walk on or put weight on one, whatever its age.

Anyone working on the roof should know where the roof lights are and use proper access equipment, following HSE guidance on fragile roofs.

We can supply matching fixings, fillers and flashings with your order, so everything arrives together in one delivery.
