GRP Roof Lights in Box Profile
A roof light only works if it fits the roof it is going into. Ours are moulded in the same box profile form as our steel sheets, so a roof light takes the place of a sheet in the run, laps the same way, and fixes on the same centres. Nothing about the roof has to change to let daylight in.
GRP, or glass reinforced plastic, was developed for aircraft during the Second World War and is both strong and durable. It can be moulded to almost any shape, which is what makes matching a profile possible in the first place.

Where to put them
Spreading roof lights evenly along the slope gives much better working light than concentrating them in one area. On a long building, one in each bay is a common arrangement.
A fully sheeted building is dark, cold to be in and expensive to light through the working day.
Working near roof lights
Roof lights should be treated as fragile, whatever their age. They do not look different from the sheets around them from above, and that is exactly what makes them a hazard. Anyone working on a roof needs to know where they are and have proper access arrangements in place. HSE guidance on fragile roofs is the reference point.
See our main GRP roof lights page for the full range.

What Coatings Do We Offer?
We always recommend our PVC Plastisol-coated sheets due to their cost-effectiveness and excellent resistance to abrasion and corrosion. Polyester-coated sheets are also a high-quality, versatile option suitable for both box profile and corrugated roofing sheets. However, care must be taken to avoid scratching during handling and installation.
