PVC Plastisol Coated Steel Sheets
Plastisol is the finish we recommend most often, and the reason is thickness. Where a polyester paint finish is a thin coat of paint on the steel, plastisol is a substantially thicker PVC layer with a textured surface. That extra body is what lets it take the knocks a roof sheet actually receives, in transit, during fitting, and from anything the weather throws at it afterwards.
Every one of our profiles is available in plastisol, across the full range of 16 colours.
Plastisol against polyester
- Plastisol is markedly thicker than a polyester paint finish
- The textured surface hides minor handling marks
- It resists abrasion better, which matters on agricultural and industrial buildings
- Polyester remains the lighter, lower cost option where the building is sheltered
Where it earns its keep
Exposed rural sites, buildings where livestock or machinery come into contact with the cladding, coastal locations, and anywhere access for future maintenance is difficult. These are all places where the cost of getting back up there later outweighs the difference in finish cost now.
Cut edges
No coating protects a cut edge, because the cut exposes bare steel. This is why we cut every sheet to length in the factory rather than leaving it to be trimmed on site: a factory edge is clean and square, while a grinder leaves a hot, burred edge with the coating burned back.
On older roofs the sheet ends are usually the first place corrosion appears. Our guide to cut edge corrosion covers why it starts there and what can be done about it.
Colour
All 16 colours are available in plastisol. Darker colours run hotter in direct sun, which is worth considering on a building that is occupied through the summer. Our article on barn roofing and overheating looks at that in more detail.
Everything is made to order at our Bromsgrove facility and cut to your exact sizes. Choose from plastisol, polyester paint or plain galvanised finishes in 16 colours, with nationwide delivery within 7 days and a 48-hour express option on request, subject to availability and additional charges.

What Coatings Do We Offer?
We always recommend our PVC Plastisol-coated sheets due to their cost-effectiveness and excellent resistance to abrasion and corrosion. Polyester-coated sheets are also a high-quality, versatile option suitable for both box profile and corrugated roofing sheets. However, care must be taken to avoid scratching during handling and installation.
